Hummingbird!
Look what Teen Demon and I saw this morning!
I would've completely missed it if not for her eagle eyes. That girl can spot cute sandals at a mile out, why should nature be any different?
Then, flight! Or should I say levitation?
Invisible wings -- now that's some fast wing action.

I wish I could've gotten to my camera fast enough. Teen Demon gave me hers (thus the lovely photos), but I'm not that familiar with it when speed is of the essence. I am so getting a hummingbird feeder.

Aren't they the most incredible little creatures. So small and so strong. There were two at my honeysuckle vine last night. We sat having a bottle of bubbly on the deck watching them... conversation stopped and we just watched.
And as to getting better photos these two are remarkable and you can see the blur of the wings on the second one. Thanks, made the morning brighter.
I love hummies. I used to spend time in the elevations above Santa Fe NM in the summer, and we had a large spruce tree that must have had 20 or 30 hummy nests every year. The tree hummed all day.
amazing. and it's rare to catch them sitting. sweet little creatures.
