Spoke Too Soon
OK, so I was a little fast on the draw with my comment yesterday. Apparently, I should not have gone back to work yesterday, as I am right back home again today, as is the son. -sigh- I think I pulled a muscle in my chest at some point last night in a coughing fit. I'm so goddamn sick of coughing it's not even funny. It's getting better though.
I actually do feel better than I did over the weekend, which, come to think of it, isn't saying a whole hell of a lot --- those frogs sitting in a jar in some biology classroom probably feel better than I did on Sunday, but regardless, I am improved, just not quickly enough for my taste. Today is my 4th sick day, plus the weekend. Which chaps my ass, because I prefer spending my sick days and weekends not being sick. Please, like you all really use all your sick days actually being sick.
Anyway, I got up this morning, fully intending to go to work ... and realized that would be idiotic. Went back to bed and slept past noon. Could've easily kept right on sleeping, too, but then I'd have been up all night, and that would really screw things up.
I need to get my ass up and hit the store and the post office ... if I could only convince my ass it actually needs to move. Ugh. Speaking of my ass, there had damn well better be less of it, seeing as I've eaten nothing but soup and toast since last Wednesday night, and not much of that. Damn, if only I hadn't pitched our scale into the garbage a couple of years back, I'd know. I hadn't regretted that little fit of fat-rage until now. Crap. Anyway, if I can keep that up for another few days, maybe I'll have enough of a head start to actually give me that motivation for working out again once I'm feeling better. Or monkeys could fly out of my ass, either one.
I don't really have any news, seeing as I've basically been living in a self induced fog, but I'm bored, so here I am writing about nothing. Oh, really, don't mention it, I don't mind.
Let's see ... you'll all be happy to know our resident toothless wonder has been doing much better. Batman was basically acting like his old self, even playing with his toys, until yesterday. He kept holding his head to the side, shaking his head, and even whined a couple of times, which is very unusual for him. Of course, I was paranoid that his tooth crater had formed some kind of hellish infection, but it appeared to be fine. Other than the fact that his tongue now hangs out a bit at that spot that is, but you can't even see that unless you lift his lip up. It would make him look like a pansy if he ever decided to growl and bare his teeth, though. Anyway, I cleaned his ears, which he hates, because it involves squirting this solution in his ear canals, but now he seems fine. Either that or he's smart enough to fake it so I don't clean them again.
In political news, looks like McCain is edging out the Mittster, which is a relief for me -- I think -- because Romney freaks me the hell out. Seriously, I would not be shocked if he was an alien disguised as a human. There is just something sinister about him. He creeps me out. Then again, is there really a lesser of evils over on the red side this time around? I'm not sure.
Also, John Edwards has pulled out of the race. I'm more sorry about that than I'd have thought, had you asked me a few months back. I actually did like a lot of his positions, and I think he was a good candidate. He shone a spotlight on the whole poverty issue; a bit surprising, coming from the rich, white, straight, privileged male in the race, but there you go. So the question now, to whom will he throw his endorsement? I'm betting on Obama. They seem to have been allying up over recent months, much moreso than either of them with Hillary Clinton. And I tell you what, I would be very very happy at the prospect of an Obama/Edwards ticket.
Also, Ralph Nader apparently is floating the idea of another run for the White House. Hey, Ralph, back the fuck off, OK? Seriously. How many times have you run now? I admire you making a stand for difference, but you know you don't actually have a shot at it, and now is not the time. Now is really not the time, Ralph. Did you not learn anything with the whole Gore deal? When Dubya makes one of his dumbass blunders, do you wonder how much responsibility you bear? We actually have a shot at some change, at making some history, a shot at some friggin' hope here, at the risk of sounding idealistic. So just sit your ass down, Ralph, sit this one out. Greater good, OK?
Damn.
Alright people, that's all I've got for now. I'm still trying to get caught up on everyone's sites. Hope everyone else who's been hacking and snotting is on the upswing. Cheers.

Well I hope you get rid of all the crap in your lungs. I know what the coughing does for a nights sleep, so get the sleep while you can. Ha you know when you don't eat while your sick, you do lose weight, only to get healthy and chow down to make up for all the lost calories. It will feel good.
Now listen I couldn't agree more with you on the love you have for Ralph. I can't stand any fucker that goes out and waste a vote on him.
But about the Obama/Edwards, Red and I are actually still looking for people to join our Hillary Posse. No initiation fee. Just sayin...
Get better and finish what you were working on before you got too sick....you know what I am talking about.
Sorry you are still sick. I was beginning to wonder since such long absences in blogging is unusual for you unless something is really up.
So "Your bitch" has a willing and available ass to "hit the store and the post office" for you. In order to keep your germs to yourself you can leave shopping list and PO items on your porch and I'll pick up and deliver them there. This is a serious offer. Just call me.
Distance air hugs to u and nephew and hoping you both keep getting better.
Luv u but not your germs!
Oh yucks. But I'm glad it's going in the right direction. Also, your ass has to move before the monkeys can fly out of it. Feel better soon kiddo.
Damm, kid,I wish you just felt better.
ok... i still dont see the word doctor in your blog!
I'm sad about Edwards as well -- like you, more than I thought I'd be. Go read Angry Black Bitch's take on the Edwards candidacy; it's really good.
I don't worry about Ralph Nader; no one takes him seriously anymore. I do worry a bit about Michael Bloomberg getting into the race, but as a pundit pointed out the other day, only New Yorkers really know him, so he's not liable to hurt either the Dems or the Rethugs in '08.
Feel better.
I hate it when I want to bitchslap Nadar.
Get better!
Monkeys flying out your ass would certainly account for a few lost pounds.
And...does batman lisp now?
Sorry you're still feeling lousy. I am finally admitting defeat. I've made an appointment with my doctors office tomorrow. I think the diagnosis will be, "It's a cold, it's bound to go away eventually, but mine has been dragging on for so long now that I'm almost hoping that it's something else, as long as they can do something about it and make it end.
As for Batman (aka Jethro) It sounds like a shameless ploy for attention to me. I am glad to hear he didn't decide to get an infection.
SW: If I lose enough, it will motivate me to keep on, I know that from experience. But if it's not noticeable, you're right, some type of crazed hungerfest will probably follow. Not joining any posses today ... talk to your girl about raising the SS contribution cap to include the rich folks, and maybe I'd reconsider.
SeattleSlew: Thanks for the offer sweetpants -- I ended up not going to the PO, and with the investment of stress I've got in Teen Demon having a license, damned if I won't get a trip to the store out of that.
Elizabeth: It's improving slowly, but damn what a pain in the ass! And I"m not even talking aboutthe monkeys.
Sling: Me too, trust. It's getting there though.
Mouse: That's because it IS improving, and I can't see wasting time and money to go sit around a bunch of fresh germs so the doc can say, "yeah, that was a nasty cold/cough/shittiness ... have to let it run its course, but here's some OTC cough meds for $30." No thanks. If I hadn't started improving by Monday, I would've gone, and I think I set my own self back by trying to go back to work Tuesday. Anyway, I'm on the way up.
Red: Yeah, like I told you earlier, I don't know much about Bloomberg, I'll have to go read up on that. I hope you're right about Nader. He's been the wrench in the works before.
Lorraine: I don't. (hate it that is!) Thanks.
Rodger: Good point! So either way, I win. And no, Batman doesn't lisp now, but he does still prance when in costume.
Evil-G: It just seems like everybody and his brother has been taken down with this crap. good luck at the doc's. And you're probably right on the money about Batman.
SeattleSlew????????????????????????
Which one?
1 a: a place of deep mud or mire balso slew or slue \ˈslü\ (1): swamp (2): an inlet on a river; also : backwater (3): a creek in a marsh or tide flat
2: a state of moral degradation or spiritual dejection
Actually it was in reference to your city of residence and that redhot thoroughbred racehorse, the only one to win the Triple Crown while undefeated. He was also known for prancing on tiptoe before races. Because there's nothing like a hot ride around the track, after a good prance.
And this redhot thoroughbred racehorse reminds you of me?
I'm so sorry that you are still sick.
Romney freaks me out too, so does Huckabee.
Ahhh yes....I CAN picture myself "prancing" away like a "redhot thoroughbred racehorse."
Yep...that's me.
Greater good for sure Nader! Listen to the Cowbell! Also, you need Pho *fuh*. It is magical soup that will cure you.
We're missing your fabulous snarkiness Ms. Cowbell. Get better soon.
Batman lisping - hahahahahah Wooth! Wooth!
