Rudy & The Mittster: Not Down With the Little People

Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani are backing out of the Republican YouTube debates. Check it out here, on their own Charlie-Fox news.

Apparently, they have more pressing engagements than answering actual unscripted questions from the American public. Hmm. Really? Because you'd think, with the Republican party's rep basically being in the toilet, they'd want to give the impression of actually giving a shit about any concerns the American public may have.

And here I was thinking that the Republicans would try to distance themselves from their Clueless Leader, in order to show that it's not the party as a whole that doesn't give a flying fuck about the voice of the people, it's just that chimp with veto power who doesn't give the aforementioned flying fuck.

I stand corrected.

Giuliani cited scheduling conflicts. (You know, I really think I'd find a way to work around those conflicts, Rudy.) Romney had this to say about the debates:

I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman.

Are you kidding me? So the question itself -- how will the candidate address global warming -- is invalidated because the format in which it was asked was creative and memorable? Really?

So this guy holds himself at a "higher level" than having to answer silly questions from the unwashed masses. Wait ... he wants my vote, and he can't even make time to step down and answer a question I might have? Really?

What, does this guy squeeze gold out his ass or something? That is some High & Mighty thinking, right there.

I am disgusted, but not surprised and most definitely not outraged; it only works against him. In my opinion, this is just one more incident illustrating what the Republican party is all about. The rich and elite are the Deciders, and to hell with the rest of y'all, they don't have time for your petty problems, and they sure don't have to answer to anyone.

Romney also said that in the Democratic debates, Senator Obama

... is slowly but surely revealing who he is.

Yeah, Mitt, and your refusal to even step out to that podium is sure as hell revealing who you are. That's ok, because I'm thinking folks will not be impressed. The Mittster may just unwittingly rack up a boatload of votes for the blue side.

You just keep on, Mitt. If the rest of your party is as uptight and Holier Than Thou as you and Rudy and your Boy George, I'm glad I vote blue. Way to represent.

Actually,
Mittens is too busy searching for the gold tablets with a peep stone (like his fabulous predecessor Joseph Smith), and denying the rights of gay americans to possibly entertain the idea of answering to anyone but his God, and his wealthy contributers.

Rude-y is probably out looking for wife number four and searching for another 911 to bolster his sagging image.

These jackasses make me want to hurl. Glad they are showing their true colors though, even if I personally find it mindnumbingly nauseating.

Having had Mitt the Shit for a governor I can't say I find any of this surprising. He is such a trainwreck! The worst part is I can see our braindead citizenry electing him.

Tater: their true colors only work for us.

Sling: Let them eat Ding-dongs.

Hat: It's back in boring work clothes today. Blech.

CM: is that a growl of disguest or the sound of Republican induced vomiting?

Evil-G: If that comes to pass, I swear, I am SO out of here. Watch me find "Marry a Canadian" site!

I too am surprised by the lack of distancing going on with these clowns. Are they not reading the same poll numbers?

Is CNN accepting new YouTube questions for the Republican debate? (I'd think they would since using the same ones wouldn't have the same impact). I'm thinking a video question along the lines of "Both Mitt and Romney think they are too good to answer questions from regular people; you know, the people they claim to want to serve. Does your presence here suggest that you actually give a flying frak what the American people think and what would you say to a candidate who wants to be President but doesn't feel the need to answer questions from the people?"

Not that I give a flying frak what any of them think but wouldn't it be fun?

too bad a lot of republican voters are too unintelligent to realize they've been dissed.

Cowbell: Amen, sister.

Lorraine: Do it, but use your Jane Austen action figure -- with a BRITISH ACCENT. I so triple dog dare ya!!

I believe this occasion should be at a higher level than answering questions from an action figure. Particularly one with an accent.

The amusing thing is that their loyal party faithful have never realized that it's a party of elitist bastards that really don't give a shit about accountability.

"I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman."..

This from a guy who,if elected, would pardon a Turkey on Thanksgiving day..this is fun!

Yeah, Red. Geez.

(Although now I might make a little movie with Jane about something else pertinent and clever).

Its so embarrasing... What are they thinking? Just terrible if you ask me. And all this time I really thought the guy had something after 9/11. It will be interesting to see how NY votes on this one... Liberal state, fond of the former mayor... A sign maybe?

I don't think we have to worry about Romney or Rudy getting elected...Bush will declare martial law before November 2008 and there won't be an election, just incarceration and conscription.

i loved the youtube debates!!! was not surprised to hear that the rethugs won't participate. too ~ ouch!! ~ real for them.

i believe it will work against them, this dismissive stance they're taking. i watched some of the videos which have already been submitted over at MotherJones and, well, if i were mitt romney or rudy guiliani, i'd probably be scared shitless too. big bad terrorist-fighting republican pussies.
